Hi there, I’m Malika. I am so glad you are here.
I’m a Georgia-born, daughter, sister, friend and, most importantly, a child of God! My life experiences have moved me to empower women to abandon their fears, seeking a faith and purpose-filled life.
Does this sound like you??
You have experienced difficult, maybe even traumatic, life experiences. These have have shaken you to your very core, leading to crippling anxiety and depression.
You find yourself in a perpetual state of striving. For the better job, larger house, bigger income. To you, “contentment” is for lazy people, women without a purpose.
Speaking of purpose, what’s yours? You thought you had it all figured out, but somehow, you lost your way.
You are ready to let go of your fears, activate your faith, and discover God’s purpose for your life!
If any of this resonates with you, please know that you are not alone. I can tell you that I have struggled with every single scenario above.
I started Fearless | Faithful out of a desire to help women, like me, whose lives have been ruled by fear. Women who have listened to the enemy’s lies.
Women who want to break free from fear and move forward in faith towards God’s ultimate purpose for their lives.
I had a pretty amazing childhood and young adulthood.
My mother was a single mother extraordinaire! She literally did it all: cooked, cleaned, worked, and even enrolled in college!
On top of all that, she was my best friend. I could talk to my mother about anything and everything. She really was the best mother any daughter could ever have.
In September of 2007, everything changed. To this day, I remember the somber look on her face as my mother told me that she had breast cancer.
I was 28 and in my second year of graduate school pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work. I remember being hopeful that my mother would beat it because she was so strong, the strongest woman I’d ever known.
Towards the end of 2007, chemo and cancer began to take their toll on my mother. I could tell that she was getting tired. Perhaps she knew what I didn’t know at the time…her life was slowing coming to an end.
Seven months after her diagnosis, in April of 2008, my mother died at the young age of 56. In more ways than one, my life as I knew it was over…
God was always there…
I was heartbroken and confused. During my mother’s sickness, I remember praying to God: please heal my mother! She’s all I have.
Losing a parent, a mother, is extremely difficult. There is nothing wrong or abnormal about grieving and needing time to readjust. I had lost my only parent at the time, and it pulled my foundation right from under me.
But, the truth is that my mother wasn’t all I had. And, she was never intended to be my foundation, the rock on which I stood. I made her that.
But that role could only be fulfilled by God.
It took me years to realize that God was always there…before my mother’s death, in the midst of my grief and now, over 10 years later.
As the years passed, I allowed the trauma of my mother’s death to paralyze me. I lived a life full of fear and anxiety.
My mother’s death left a void that I tried to fill with accomplishments, such as my education and career. I didn’t know who I was, but I knew that I wasn’t living. Only existing.
So, I had to choose. I knew that my mother would not have wanted me to live a life crippled by grief. So I chose to reconnect with the One who never left my side.
Over ten years later, I am grateful for the strength that God gives me everyday to keep pushing on toward His purpose for my life.
I want to help you do the same.
Let’s embark on a fearless, faith-filled journey together as we…
Feast on God’s Word
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.Joshua 1:8
The word of God is the will of God. Daily study of His word equips you to live a healthy, full, and contented life. Together, we’ll explore practical life principles through intentional bible study.
Deepen Our Relationships
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.Hebrews 10: 24-25
We are not created to do life alone. Let’s discover how to build, grow, and nurture relationships with friends, family, and significant others. We’ll explore healthy boundaries, Godly dating, and leading others to Christ.
Release Our Fears
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.2 Timothy 1:7
The enemy knows our greatest fears and will always find a way to use them against us. Together we’ll discover practical ways to conquer our fears, making room for all that God has planned for us.
Activate Our Faith
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.Hebrews 11:1
Living a faith-filled life requires intentionality, choosing to believe God’s promises despite what our circumstances look like. Together, we’ll explore how to live a life of faith.
More About Me
- I’m a Southern girl, a Georgia Peach to be exact! I was born and raised in Georgia and I still live here. Maybe I’ll move someday. Maybe not!
- I have been a clinical social worker for 10 years! In October 2018, I quit my then job and took a much needed a career break (debt freedom allowed me to do that!). Now, I am self-employed, which allows me the work-life balance to pursue my passion and purpose: writing!
- I’ve been meat-free since 2010. I never really cared for meat and challenged myself to go without it for a few weeks; I’ve made it nearly 10 years! These days, I consider myself a pescetarian (fish and shellfish only). I tried veganism for all of 5 months, but couldn’t stick with it. I admire anyone living a vegan lifestyle.
- Before I became a social worker, I wanted to be an FBI profiler or behavioral scientist. I am fascinated by human behavior, specifically what drives people to commit crimes. And, yes, I’ve seen every episode of Forensic Files!
I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out!
